Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Late 18th century, .75 caliber, 42 1/8 in. round barrel stamped with W, walnut stock fitted with brass trigger guard, side plate, ramrod guides and butt plate; the lockplate stamped with broad arrow under the pan, crown over GR in front of hammer and TOWER behind hammer.

58.25 in. LOA

Judging from its long stock and short barrel, this weapon appears to be a First Land Pattern model that was altered to conform to the shorter specifications of the Second Land Pattern muskets. In addition to its 42 in. barrel, it has a flared front ramrod pipe not found on First Pattern guns.

Working action; lacking sling swivels and nose cap; old incised II on left side of butt and IIII on butt plate tang; the stock with typical shrinkage, hairlines, marks and losses; iron elements with some expected pitting.
