This exhibition traveled to the North Carolina Museum of History, Raleigh, NC, September 10 - December 4, 2016.

Born in Michigan, Kenneth Ness studied in Detroit and Chicago. The present painting was completed after finishing his studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. By 1941 he was the Carnegie Resident Artist at UNC-Chapel Hill. Despite a military post during WWII, Ness remained in Chapel Hill, retiring from the university in 1973.
