A native of North Carolina, Paul Hartley was head of the painting program at East Carolina University from 1975 until his retirement in 2009. His paintings are in numerous public and private collections including the Weatherspoon Art Museum in Greensboro, NC; the North Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh, NC; and the Cameron Museum of Art, Wilmington, NC.
