...by the Genius of Freedom (Baltimore: E. Sachse & Co., 1874), promoting the contentious Civil Rights Bill of 1875 that would come to be passed after much fierce debate. The central vignette depicts Robert B. Elliot of South Carolina speaking passionately before the House of Representatives. Other images show statues of Lincoln and Sumner, black soldiers in the Union Army, and a pleasant vision of future equality. Professionally mounted in a gilt frame.
