Henri van Seben was an accomplished portrait artist, also highly regarded for his charming genre scenes and lithographic work. He exhibited frequently throughout his lifetime, with works shown at the salons of Brussels and Bergen, the 1893 World's Columbian Exhibition, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
