This lot from the Cyprus Museum of Jacksonville, NC is accompanied by two documents demonstrating that the collection was acquired legally with the full knowledge of the Cypriot Government.

The first document, a one page official message dated January 1990 and signed by Cypriot President George Vassiliou, praises the North Carolina museum and endorses its cultural and historic mission.

The second document is a notarized affidavit signed by the museum's director. It declares that all of the museum's antiquities were acquired legally with the full knowledge of the Cypriot Government and that there were documented visits to the museum by Cypriot dignitaries.

Two Cypro-Geometric Bichrome Dishes, circa 1050-750 B.C., the first with pierced handles. paint decorated with concentric circle on both sides; the foot also having latticed geometric shapes around a cross (10 in. diameter with handles) (encrustations, two rim chips); the second with concentric circles on both sides, pierced and shaped lug handles (7 in. diameter) (two significant chips to one side; paint losses and encrustations).
