19th century, salt glazed stoneware, attributed to Wilkes County, the jug presents an allover sand-like heavy texture to the surface, a wide strap handle with thumb impression, a finely incised band of lines decorates both the spout and the shoulder, impressed on the upper shoulder "JC / !".
