Diego Valades, a talented Franciscan of mixed Spanish-Aztec parentage, created a literary and visual masterpiece that gave a sympathetic insider's view of native Mexican culture to skeptical European Catholics.

Moderate foxing throughout; sunning to spine; damp stain to upper right corner of first four pages; two areas of loss to margins on leaf with pages 3 and 4; overall very good condition.
