Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Composition with black paint, inscribed signature.

12.75 in.

The Trilon Fountain is located in Colony Square in Midtown Atlanta. Installed in 1966, it was a winner of an Urban Design Commission for excellence in 1976.

Thomas was born in Germany and studied as a sculptor in Nuremberg and Munich. After a brief job making copies of classical sculptures for the E. F. Hutton Estate in Palm Beach, he eventually settled in Atlanta in 1930 and devoted himself to his own artistic creations. He received numerous commissions for public sculptures, including the Alabama Memorial at Vicksburg. His mature works evolved from the realist tradition into an expressionist style, as evidenced in this maquette.

Some chipping to base; minor flaking to surface.
