An intelligent and inquisitive woman, Palmore studied fine arts at the Richmond Professional Institute of William & Mary University. In 1967 she moved to Durham with her family and began working as office manager at Duke Medical Center. She was an accomplished artist working in many different mediums. Active in the Unitarian Universalist congregation, she became a Priestess of Isis in 2000.
