N.p., March 2, 1778, one page, oblong octavo (8 x 4.25 in.), reading: "State of No. Carolina To the Sherriff of Washington Greeting We Command You, that you, take the body of Abraham Blevins if he be found within Your Bailiwick and him safely keep so that you have his body before the Justices of Our Court to be held for the County of Washington on the 4th Monday in May next, then and there to answer Absalom Gray of a plea of Debt to the sum of four pounds Virginia money damage Two pounds ---Fail not & leave you then and there this Writ. Witness John Sevier Clerk of Our s.d Court the 2d day of March Anno Dom. 1778 and in the 2d year of Our Independence." Presented in a framed display touting Sevier's accomplishments as one of Tennessee's founding fathers.
