Shakily penned in blue ink, framed behind a mat with a descriptive sheet noting Cook's significance. Cook is known to have died in 1866, with various authorities giving his birth year between 1759 and 1764. Regardless, he did serve in the American Revolution and had a discharge signed by General Washington.
