18th century, painted in cobalt blue with gold featuring a crest with initials and two birds above, cover is topped with a pomegranate, pot is a tall cylindrical shape with rounded shoulder, having one handle and a shaped spout, there are two vent holes to cover and pot.

This is a very rare and unusual porcelain from an early time when chocolate was expensive and rare. It needed its own container for serving.

Star hairline crack to side; nicks to the spout and handle; loss of gilt to cover and handles; glaze defects to cover; 1 in. area of restoration and repainting to rim of the cover.
