Irish Poet Thomas Moore (1779-1852), Autograph Letter Signed
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
One page, small octavo, n.p., likely Dublin, April 30, 1824, to a "T. W. Jordan" (?), Dwyer, as follows: "My dear Sir, Your letter gave me very great pleasure, because you are one of those among my countrymen whose feelings about Ireland are always right as they are warm. The Captain has, indeed, prospered beyond my expectations, as it is a great point to have got Englishmen to read & write of the history of our ways & fortunes. Wm. Moore (to whom I had already told of your daughter's illness) sympathizes with you very sincerely. I trust, however, on my arrival in town, which will be, I think, about the 10th or11th, you will be able to tell me that she is much better. Yours very truly, Thomas Moore." Below is a postscript reading, "Pray send the enclosed to your friend for me." Presented with an engraved portrait in a late 19th century wooden frame.

DOA in frame 18.5 x 12 in.

Ink remains bold; light age toning to paper; very good appearance; not examined out of the frame.
