Circa 1860, shaped crest rail, pierced splat with lower ribbon cross, later black leather overupholstery with brass nail head trim, open knee returns, front straight molded legs with inside chamfer, stretcher base.

36.5 x 19 x 23 in.

Accompanying this lot is a copy of a letter from their purchase at W. & J. Sloane, New York reading "The 6 chairs came to us from the collection of Mr. Leonard Knight of London under the auspices of the British Trade Association..." The black leather upholstery was more recently completed by McSwain's of Charlotte, North Carolina.

All with repairs at stile joint to crest rail; later leather upholstery; one with break and repair to front left leg near seat and with heavy marring to side stretcher; some stretcher and return repairs.
