Goetz studied with John Sloan and Harry Wickey at the Art Students League in New York and also spent some time studying in Paris. She exhibited frequently throughout the 1930s and 1940s, included in shows at the Society of Independent Artists, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Art Institute of Chicago, Whitney Museum of American Art, and elsewhere. She was also honored with a solo exhibition at the Museum of the City of New York in 1944.

This watercolor was included in exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Society of Independent Artists in 1940.
