5.75 x 15.25 in.

Born in Brooklyn, Pepper studied in Paris under such modern masters as Fernand Léger and André Lhote at the Académie de la Grande Chaumiére. She moved to Italy in the 1950s with her husband, first living in Rome and then moving to Umbria in the 1970s. Known for her precisely fabricated and totemic designs, crafted from hard and unforgiving materials, Pepper was awarded the International Sculpture Center's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013. Her works are found in public collections throughout the world, including the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna, Rome; and the Hirschhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, D.C.
