Connecticut, circa 1770, white pine and poplar secondary, two-part form, applied cove molded cornice, two upper side-by-side lipped drawers above four graduated lipped drawers, dovetailed upper case with applied lower molding to bottom edge, set within base with applied upper molding, base with upper long lipped drawer above three side-by-side lipped drawers, the central with relief carved fan above a shaped tri-part skirt with central concave element, flanked by two drop pendants, raised on tall cabriole legs with raised pad foot.

76.5 x 43 x 21.5 in. Case width 37.5 in.

Cornice with hidden open compartment accessible after removing top two side-by-side drawers. Marked to the upper back "R.F. Shephard, 1741".

Some drawer runners rebuilt; some drawer glides replaced; some drawers tight within movement of case; lip break and repair to long drawer in base; lower left small drawer with cut and repair to left face; right lower drawer with cut and repair; later brasses; shrinkage cracks to upper left and right side cases; three small lip repairs and surface anomalies.
