The first, unframed paint on board, Run Cat (7.75 x 13 in.); the second also unframed Gon hom (17 x 12 in.) (two chips to front); the third is framed paint on board Danzn Dan (DOA 21.5 x 18.5 in.) (chips to frame, upper edge.)

Joe Jackson was an African-American born to a sharecropper family. He was dyslexic as is evidenced by his writing, and generally painted images from his childhood experiences. His creation of atmospheric backgrounds is somewhat unique in folk art.
