From the Collection of Mr. Samuel E. Rankin, Gastonia, North Carolina

Maurice Grieve moved his family's centuries old frame business from Belgium to New York in 1906. Highly respected by and sought after by dealers, colllectors, and artists, his frames surround such famous paintings as Thomas Gainsborough's Blue Boy (as re-framed by Henry Huntington) and George Bellow's Stag at Sharky's (chosen by the artist). The business closed in 1955 upon his retirement.

Minor rubbing to surfaces; a few "blemishes" to glass - possibly intentional.
