New England Federal Inlaid Cherry Chest of Drawers

Probably Connecticut, circa 1800, white pine and poplar secondary, rectangular case with an applied molded edge with distinctive light and dark wood inlay with central ellipse, four graduated cockbeaded drawers with solid cherry front drawer facing, with full dust boards, each with lightwood line inlay and ellipse corners, distinctive rounded quarter columns with lightwood line inlay creating a fluted look, double banded inlay at base, shaped French bracket feet.

Nice case size with distinctive light and dark wood vernacular inlays.

Top with wear and light scraping; top left and right rear molding cut and replaced two inches; later medial bracing to underside of top board; later drawer guides; quarter round molding reattached with new screws; right rear foot missing lower two inch foot facing; right front foot with hairline, crack but original; left front foot with hairline crack, but original; left rear foot with hairline cracks, but original, however spur tip is replaced; brasses possibly original and in original holes; alligatored surface, especially to drawer fronts.
