Circa 1900, the brass time and strike movement marked JAPY FRERES & CIE, the case is cast with lines of incuse Latin verse between high relief medieval figures and embellishments, the clock's face behind glass and inset with painted porcelain Roman numerals; included are twin candelabra naming Luke, Mark, Matthew and John above and below two registers of pierced acanthus decoration inhabited by an angel and three mythical animals.
