In the early 2000s, the Duke Heart Center commissioned artist Elaine O'Neil to create this work for Mary Duke Biddle Trent Semans to show their appreciation for her work and support. This tapestry collage includes some of Semans' most beloved locations and institutions, including the Duke Heart Center, the North Carolina School of the Arts, and her favorite places in Italy such as the Palazzo Pubblico in Sienna and the Ponte Vecchio in Florence. A road with nearby North Carolina pines and Italian cypresses connects these meaningful landmarks.

Elaine O'Neil is a celebrated textile collage artist practicing throughout North Carolina and beyond. Her work is featured in a number of major collections in the Southeast, and she has illustrated two children's books. Leland Little Auctions wishes to thank O'Neil for her assistance in cataloguing and identifying landmarks in this work.
