Oil on canvas, signed and inscribed at sitter's proper right shoulder "Painted by / R. Bogtez (spelling ?) / 1838," retaining a label identifying the sitter as Alexander Harris and indicating that the painting was restored in August 1976 by the sitters' great grandson, Worthington J. Harris, the canvas with New York stencil to the verso, presented in an antique gilt composition frame with later gold paint.
