George III Inlaid Mahogany Secretary Bookcase

Late 18th century, mahogany veneers, oak and pine secondary, two-part form, the bookcase featuring a broken arch pediment with gilt applied carved rosettes, center plinth with relief carved and gilt cartouche, later turned finials, two beveled mirrored hinged doors with center fluted applied stile, and flanked by canted fluted stiles, each with Corinthian capital, shelved interior with later green paint, the desk with a hinged lipped lid with loper supports featuring matched burl panels, leather inset writing surface, central prospect door, removable compartment, flanked by six small drawers and six pigeon holes, four graduated cockbeaded drawers with lightwood line inlay and full dustboards, raised on shaped ogee bracket feet.
