Kurt Larisch is a truly global artist. Born in Vienna, he began his artistic studies under the direction of his father, a miniature painter, photographer, and antique collector. As he grew older, Larisch branched out into graphic design and animation art. Political unrest and new job opportunities took him from Europe, to England, and then to India before moving to New York where he opened his own Graphic Art Studio.

In 1970, he and his family moved to Mexico where Larisch developed his mature painting style as seen in the work presented here. Moving away from representational work, his surrealist op-art paintings are his amalgamation of cultures experienced over the course of his lifetime.

Pen mark and shallow dent with marking at lower right above hand; handle with loss to one finger.
