Circa 1930, signed to base "GERDAGO" and with foundry mark for Arthur Rubenstein of Vienna, Austria, raised on a stepped onyx plinth affixed to a period brass base.

HOA 14.25 in.

Born Gerda Gottstein in Vienna in 1906, she studied art in both Berlin and then Paris. By the early 1930s she began a very successful career as a costume designer for dance revues and films, earning the nickname the "Austrian Edith Head." She passed away in Vienna on January 20, 2004.

Hands in poor condition with loss and glue residue; some wear to enameling; tight stable hairlines to ivory face with loss to dark paint on hair.
