Molded in the manner of 19th century Pennsylvania redware lion, this earthenware work has a surface decorated with streaks of manganese and white slip under a clear lead glaze, details include an open roaring mouth with applied lower fangs, a protruding tongue, curled tail, incised eyes, decorative platform edge treatment, impressed on the bottom "BH / 61".
