Thomas Bartholomew Griffin was born in Philadelphia and began his formal art studies at the National Academy of Design in New York. He exhibited frequently at the academy and is best known for his landscapes of the Pennsylvania, New York, and Maryland countryside.

Overall good estate condition; restretched; blacklight indicates some spots of retouch primarily in water and possible repaired tear lower center.
