Tennessee or Virginia, late 18th century, yellow pine and poplar secondary, two-part form, upper dovetailed case with later broken arch pediment, two paneled hinged doors open to a shelved interior with six small drawers above five small drawers, each shelf with double line scratch bead, fluted quarter columns with lamb's tongue, the desk having a dovetailed case, hinged lipped slant lid with breadboard ends, supported by candle drawer lopers, interior with central prospect door with three interior drawers, flanked by two document drawers, eight shaped pigeon holes above eight small drawers, the case with four graduated lipped drawers with full dust boards, fluted quarter columns, applied molding at base, applied ogee bracket feet to the case solid.

The two lower right interior drawers of the bookcase signed in script "made by Jonathon (??) ...November 26 1805".

Base: moldings at top of desk to support bookcase are later; lid with lip loss and cuts and repairs at hinges; document drawers appear rebuilt; replaced pulls; some drawers with lip repair; the whole is supported by and rests on extensions from the solid; the right rear foot facing appears to be original; the other foot facings appear later. Top: the upper portion of the broken arch pediment and the molding is later.
