Lot Details & Additional Photographs
The large red rubber mat reads "The Armstrongs" along its bottom edge, an American eagle motif in the field above (18.75 x 30 in.); included is a small stuffed alligator such as those commonly sold in the 1960s, this one being dressed in a completely homemade space suit and posed as if walking on the moon. A business card from "Solis," a Miami novelty firm, is affixed to the display, perhaps indicating this was a post-Apollo XI gift (11.5 in.).
Collection of John Westheimer, Lebanon, Ohio These items were found by the consignor in his home, which he purchased from Neil Armstrong. Warren County, Ohio records document the property's transfer from Neil A. Armstrong to John R. Westheimer on July 28, 1999.
