Dated 1852, Rockingham County, ovoid squat jar with brushed meandering cobalt flower to the front, inscribed on the back, "Plumb", tooled ridge below the rim, applied ear handles also tooled. The plumb designates a preserve jar as some other known examples are inscribed "peach" "blackberry" etc.
