Sibley Smith was an abstract expressionist painter who exhibited at Willard Gallery in New York in the 1940s and 1950s. Founded by Marian Willard Johnson in 1940, the Willard Gallery exhibited work during this time by such prominent contemporary artists as Lyonel Feininger, Shiko Munakata, Norman Lewis, and David Smith.
