"Lea Lackey-Zachmann is investigating the plant kingdom by going into the garden, choosing a plant and placing a small amount of plant material onto a slide for viewing in a microscope. Large paintings are then inspired after searching the environment of the cellular structure shown in the photograph chosen. Ms. Zachmann received her BA from Winthrop University in NC and her MFA in painting from UNC-Greensboro, NC. She teaches Art at High Point University, and lives in Winston-Salem. She is a founding member of Artworks Gallery and currently the Exhibition chair."
