Both books are large family bibles, the first published by Matthew Carey, Philadelphia, 1805 and associated with the Boyds of Boydton, Mecklenburg County, Virginia, its front free endpaper inscribed "David Boyd, June 1st 1806" and having a record of Boyd births and deaths to the 1930s; the second bible was published in Philadelphia by J. B. Lippincott & Company, 1856 and is the family bible started by William J. Branch of Henderson and follows his family until 1883.

Both books are approximately 11.5 in.

Fair condition overall; wear and losses to boards; internal stains.
