The Collection of Mrs. Virginia Browning, Raleigh, North Carolina

Ben Williams was an arts leader in North Carolina. He was the first curator at the North Carolina Museum of Art and curator at the Gregg Museum of Art at NC State University. Williams and his wife, Margaret, established a significant art collection that included works by Josef Albers and Lyonel Feininger, which were acquired during the couple's trips to Black Mountain College. Williams was a skillful artist in his own right, as seen in this work that depicts a chestnut tree at Sertoma.

Good estate condition; some light frame wear.
