Scrimshaw Whale Tooth Match Safe and Whalebone Puzzle Box

19th century, the tooth is decorated with a whaling ship on one side and American flags flanking a match striker on the other (3.5 in.) (glossy patinated surfaces with two hairlines nearly running the length of the tooth); the puzzle box names a Captain W. Bent along one side, while the top and the other side are carved with an anchor and snake motif, the underside with a flashy abalone inlay (1 x 2 x 1.5 in.) (no apparent condition concerns).
