A hand-written note affixed to the verso notes this sampler reads:
"The Fletcher home was for many years, just outside of Wakefield, Rhode Island. This sampler was acquired from Fletcher descendants and to the best of my knowledge it has never been out of the Fletcher family, since it was made in 1827, until recently (6/65) purchased by us."
