Born in Rochester, New York, George Herdle studied in Holland and Paris. He exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia, National Academy of Design, New York, and the New York Watercolor Society. Herdle was director of the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, New York, from 1913 until his death in 1922.
