A classical realist, Roger Allen Nelson began his artistic training at Atelier Lach School of Fine Arts in Minneapolis. After moving to North Carolina, Nelson was introduced to the famous fresco artist, Ben Long. He eventually became Long's Chief Associate Assistant, working with him on frescoes in North Carolina and France. He also served as an instructor at The Fine Arts League in Asheville. Nelson now lives and maintains a studio in Blowing Rock.
