Two volumes bound in later antique full calf with gilt rules and raised bands on spine, to include: Raleigh, Sir Walter. The Historie of the World in Five Books (London: Samuel Cartwright and R. Best, 1652), Vol. I, small folio (13 in.), allegorical title page, additional title page with Raleigh portrait, 670 pages of text precede 54 pages of chronological tables and an index, the text interspersed with eight fold-out maps, plus: Ross, Alexander. The History of the World: The Second Part, in Six Books: Being a Continuation of the famous History of Sir Walter Raleigh, Knight (London: for John Clark, 1652), small folio (13 in.), engraved title page with portrait, 32 page-preface, 647 pages text (pages 643 and 646 mistakenly appear as pages 663 and 666), 84-page chronology and 34-page index. Both volumes are inscribed by former owners Anne Bagot (with 1812 date), Frances Beasley, Evelyn Honora Levett (the Raleigh volume also with Louisa Frances Levett bookplate).
