The Europa pen is significant in the fact that the first twelve were presented to the Italian Heads of State who signed the Maastricht Economical Treaty, comprised of a blue resin matching the color of the EEC flag, rolled gold band with twelve stars and one inset small cut diamond, 18k gold nib, numbered 3154, with acrylic hinged lid case, pamphlets and protective case.
