1920s or earlier, to include: a hopper basket (11in diameter) (soiling with minor losses); matching small handled basket, larger open basket with zig-zag decoration and mat (good condition, though the mat with area of glue residue); lidded basket of woven grass, the interior using a printed sheet showing oranges (the grass is becoming undone on the basket); shallow woven grass basket; openwork basket with decorative band (good condition); two small lidded baskets with colorful decorations (good condition).

Private North Carolina Collection

From the collection of Mrs. Harriet Nottingham, an Ohio missionary serving the Navajos of Shiprock, New Mexico in the 1920s. Tribal members presented her with the artifacts here as a farewell gesture of thanks and goodwill upon her departure from the reservation.
