Lot Details & Additional Photographs
1920s or earlier, a brown velvet blouse with patterned cotton lining, four convex silver buttons on the front, ten conforming smaller buttons on each sleeve, and four strings of beads suspended from the hem (24.5 in. overall height); plus a colorful skirt of pleated gauzy cotton fabric (36 in. overall length).

Private North Carolina Collection

From the collection of Mrs. Harriet Nottingham, an Ohio missionary serving the Navajos of Shiprock, New Mexico in the 1920s. Tribal members presented her with the artifacts here as a farewell gesture of thanks and goodwill upon her departure from the reservation.

There is an easily repairable 3 in. split to the lining along the collar's lower seam; no damage is apparent; ready to wear or display.
