A talented illustrator, Chester van Nortwick worked in a similar style to that of Maxfield Parrish. He began his studies in Colorado, where he worked as a staff artist for the Denver Post and the Rocky Mountain News. He later studied at the Chicago Art Institute before moving to the East Coast, splitting his time between Massachusetts and Florida.

Some light craquelure and yellowing of varnish; few light scuffs and small flaking spots; some rubbing to frame.
