Bob Rector illustrated automobiles and other modes of transportation in the 1950s and 60s for publications such as Life and The Saturday Evening Post. He later moved to California then North Carolina, where his painting was present in galleries. Collectors of Rector's work included Andy Griffith, Jack Palance, Reggie Jackson, and others.
