Born in Brooklyn, Miles Forst studied with Hans Hoffman at the Art Students League in the 1950s. He held several teaching positions in California during the 1970s, including UC Davis and at Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, before returning to Manhattan to teach at the School of Visual Arts.
