A Pair of French Ormolu Mounted Sevres Style Moderator Lamps

4th quarter 19th century, designed as a facing pair, the lamps feature hand-painted cartouches on the obverse of a young man and lady seated in a floral bower, the reverse painted with a cluster of blossoms against a cobalt ground. All within an elaborate gilt bronze mount, the handles footed base are formed by entwined grape vines, the rims of alternating grape bunches and flowers. The lamps retain the original fluid use characteristics.
