Bruce Beasley was born in Los Angeles, California. He received his BA from the University of California, Berkeley. Now living and working in Oakland, California, Beasley is a highly respected abstract expressionist sculptor.
Beasley first gained recognition after his welded cast-iron sewer pipe sculpture,
Tree House, was included in the 1961 exhibition
the Art of Assemblage at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. In addition to MOMA, Beasley's works are in over forty museum collections including the Guggenheim Museum, New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Centre Pompidou, Paris, the China Museum of Contemporary Sculpture, Datong, and the National Museum of American Art, Washington, D.C.
