Bertram Whittier Wells, a renowned botanist, was from the first generation of North American botanists active in the early 20th century. He was the head of the Botany Department at North Carolina State University (then North Carolina State College) from 1919-1949. Wells retired on the historic Rock Cliff Farm in Wake Forest - pictured here - where he kept an artist studio and taught himself to paint.
Good estate condition; minor light surface grime.
